A paradise for wildlife lovers, Kali Tiger Reserve is located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It covers an area of 834.16 sq km and has been recognised as the second largest wildlife sanctuary in the state. Declared as the National Wildlife Sanctuary in 1956, it is home to a variety of flora and fauna including tigers, woodpeckers, hornbills, kingfishers, leopards, elephants, etc. It was renamed from Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary to Kali Tiger Reserve in 2015.

Kodasalli Backwaters is a mesmerising pool of water accumulated behind the Kodasalli Dam in the state of Karnataka. The dam with the same name is constructed over the Kali river in the Yellapur Taluk; the waters are used to generate electric power and this site is classified as a hydroelectric power station. The pool is also fed by waters gushing down from the Sathodi Waterfalls above it. On your way downhill from the Sathodi Waterfalls, a mild downward trek off route can take you to the serene and tranquil backwaters.
